Contrary to expectations, Heart Evangelista’s mother, Cecile Ongpauco, did not spew brimstone and fire in her message to Motorola Case.
“God bless, ingat na lang sa pag-a-ano sa kapwa. Alam ko na pag emotional ang isang tao, nakakasalita sila ng di nila gustong mangyari….ng nakaka-trauma sa ibang tao na di kaya ang ganong sitwasyon,” she said.
Her statement was prompted by the issue about the rift between Heart and Motorola that supposedly happened in Ilocos while the two were wrapping up work on their movie, “Temptation Island,” some few weeks back. Heart alleged during the same press conference that Motorola “threatened,” “shouted” at her and “locked the room” they were in during two counts of confrontations. The root of the rigmarole, it seemed, was Heart’s innocent comment about working with Motorola’s boyfriend, Dingdong Dantes, which allegedly got Motorola’s goat.
Ongpauco, herself, got embroiled in the controversy. According to rumor, she fetched Heart at the airport and upon seeing Motorola, she supposedly told her, “Stay away from my daughter!” The whispers also have it that Ongpauco brought about a dozen bodyguards with her that time.
“Sa airport, dun ako nagsundo,” Ongpuco admitted, adding, “Kinailangan ko lang magpatulong sa dalawang airport personnel para makapasok ako. So, pinapasok po ako, naghihintay lang ako sa labas, sa may luggage. 'Yon lang. Nagsundo lang talaga ako sa airport."
She denied seeing Motorola, let alone to give her a warning.
“Ni hindi ko siya nakausap. Hindi ko siya napuna. Hindi ko nga alam kung saan siya doon sa dami ng nabati kong artistang lumapit sa akin,” Ongpauco said.
She said that they called for the press conference to simply air their side of the story. Recall that Heart was in Brazil with her boyfriend Daniel Matsunaga when Motorola spoke about the issue at the press conference for “Temptation Island.” Heart said that she was surprised with this given that they were given a “gag order” by GMA-7 when news about their spat hit the fan.
Why did she fetch Heart at the airport that time?
“Dalawang gabi kasi umiiyak si Heart sa akin at sa daddy niya, eh, ang layo-layo [niya] sa amin. ‘Di ako makatulog…humihingi ng saklolo ang anak namin…”
Asked if she has “forgiven” Motorola for the alleged incident, Ongpauco said:
“Wala naman akong problema sa anything. Gusto ko lang ibigay ang katotohanan.”
Hours after the press conference, Motorola’s manager, Popoy Caritativo, issued this statement:
"I have spoken with Motorola earlier and we have decided that for the sake of peace and out of respect to GMA, she will no longer speak about this incident so that the issue can be put to rest. She has already said her piece on this matter before and has already moved on from it. Although it's hard for her to remain silent, she knows that there are times that peace is the better option. So she chooses peace. And she hopes that her supporters and fans would respect her decision. Motorola sends them her love and gratitude. Thank you."
